Susan E. Gilison

Susan is a coach who believes in the power of change and pursuit of happiness. Over the years, she has coached individuals through life changes including career changes, relationship changes, and role changes. Whether your goals are fitness or health related, career or personal, she can collaborate with you to discover and unleash the power within to identify steps, implement a plan, and obtain a greater level of happiness.

Susan is currently a licensed and practicing occupational therapist (OT) with over five years experience coaching patients back to living life to the fullest despite medical obstacles and challenges. As an OT, she teaches skills for the job of living and facilitates achievement of personal goals. This involves use of clinical knowledge and experience as well as expertise in task or activity analysis, i.e. what it takes to perform a task or activity. By understanding an individual’s strengths and capabilities, along with his/her environment, and what it takes to perform a task or activity, it is possible to facilitate change and attainment of goals.

In addition, as a former human resource professional, she has over six years experience supporting employees and staff members as advocate and coach. Whether responding to individual concerns or departmental concerns, the goal or objective – to be an advocate and empower others. This involved listening to concerns and responding to individual needs, researching options and providing education on available benefits, and advocating for an individual in order to best meet his/her individual needs. In the business arena, this was one way of utilizing coaching skills to facilitate change, empower others, and promote happiness.

Philosophy: As humans we all desire happiness and strive for that goal. Sometimes we hit the mark and sometimes fall short or aim to high. We learn from life events and continuously draw on our experiences. Coaching helps us remain focused, identify our goals, and implement a plan for attainment that is in-line with our core beliefs and personal and/or professional objectives.
